My Health Tune-Up Adventure 🧬
So, you've been curious about my recent journey to even better health at Global Apheresis and Jyzen Lab in Mill Valley. Let's dive into it together.
While I wasn't exactly "ill," the recent years filled with extensive travel, COVID encounters, vaccinations, and a challenging bout with antibiotics took a toll on my immune system and gut health. My body was sending clear signals for a reboot. I'm immensely grateful for the support of those in my life who understand regenerative medicine and guided me toward Global Apheresis, a revolutionary procedure studied for its potential as a longevity treatment. It aims to reduce inflammatory markers in the blood and boost overall health, precisely what the doctor (that's me) ordered! Their lead physician, Dr. Dobri Kiprov will be speaking at A4M this year (so will I) and he is running a study on the potential for apheresis in improving longevity.
This process involves extracting blood, removing the plasma (which contains antibodies and other inflammatory markers), and replacing it with albumin (a protein found in your plasma). In addition to this intervention, I'll be exploring stem cell regeneration (using VSEL technology in Sedona next month), refining my diet (returning to a strict grain and dairy-free paleo diet to lower inflammation and prepare for stem cells), completely kicking alcohol (no more teetotaling), prioritizing nature, exercise, meditation, relationships, and other biohacking methods to rejuvenate my body after years of pushing myself to the limit.

Now, let's explore the remarkable place where all this magic happens—Jyzen Lab. It's essentially a biohacker's paradise, offering every mitochondrial optimization intervention you can imagine. They’ve got it all: hypoxia training, red light therapy, body composition testing, cryotherapy, osteopathic manipulation, bodywork, PEMF, EBOO, Ozone Sauna, Vasper, IV therapies, VSEL, peptides, supplements, and phenomenal doctors. And let me tell you about the Vasper system—it's a 20-minute shortcut to the benefits of a 2-hour workout. It's a challenging yet exhilarating ride, trust me.
Another exciting intervention buzzing in the biohacking circles is EBOO (Extracorporeal Blood Oxygenation and Ozonation), a remarkable technology for blood cleansing. EBOO runs your blood through a dialysis machine and ozonates it, effectively eliminating microorganisms and chronic viral infections lurking in your bloodstream. It's a potential solution to assist with vaccine injuries, long COVID, and other viral infections. Definitely worth a look! I’m going to do it in 6 months or so. My Secret Recipe for Beating Jet Lag ✈️
Now, let's tackle one of the biggest challenges in my jet-setting life—jet lag! I've got a secret recipe that has saved me and my friends countless hours of recovery. It's all about fasting during flights.
Imagine this: fasting during your flight, staying hydrated, skipping the booze, and adjusting your eating schedule once you land. Add in some morning sunlight and a workout, and voila! It's like magic.
The idea behind it is to put your cellular clocks on pause. You fast during the flight to stop those clocks in their tracks. Then, once you land, you hit reset with light and food in your new time zone. During the flight, stick to water and electrolytes. Fasting is your ticket to a smooth transition across time zones.
I have a comprehensive program in the works, detailing dietary recommendations, exercise routines, light therapy, and supplements to combat jet lag. Stay tuned!
The Mitochondrial Mystery in Long COVID 🦠
Now let's shift our focus to something that's been on everyone's minds, and something I’m constantly being asked how to fix—long COVID. I've been exploring the connection between mitochondria and long COVID for a while now. It's a topic I even dive into in my book, "The Spark Factor."
A recent article by Eric Topol, MD, in Medscape, hit the nail on the head with his take. It discusses how research funding might've missed a crucial link—the mitochondrial-long COVID connection. He highlights findings in recent studies suggesting that SARS-CoV-2 messes with our cellular powerhouses, the mitochondria, disrupting energy production and causing lingering issues in organs like the heart and liver.
Back in the summer of 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, I delved deep into the study of viruses and their relationship with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), where mitochondrial degeneration occurs post-viral infections, leading to prolonged fatigue. With the outbreak of COVID-19, my suspicions were confirmed: the similarities between the chronic fatigue seen in CFS patients and the debilitating fatigue in "long-haul" COVID patients. Both conditions share the commonality of fatigue resulting from mitochondrial dysfunction, with organs like the heart, brain, and muscles being the hardest hit.
To avoid these energy dips, it's crucial to maintain cellular health. If you want to dive deeper into mitochondria and immunity or explore interventions for long-haul COVID, my book has you covered. It's a treasure trove of insights and strategies. While I understand that interventions like EBOO can be costly, they're worth considering if you’re dealing with these chronic symptoms.
